I swam for an hour+ this morning, had a green smoothie, worked at the barn, came home, tried to run three miles and halfway out what occurred to me? You should have eaten something, dumbass. You’re not breathing in carbs and protein along with oxygen.

Going to cook ALL the food now.

Finally got my bike out

Rode 10 miles with my neighbor, avg 18-19mph, then ran a mile and a half. Going to try to swim tomorrow, always assuming I can still walk. So outta shape.

Squats + speed workouts. My legs. My aching legs.

I will get back in shape if it kills me, and right now I think the odds are 50:50.

Stay awesome, New Balance. Not much trail lately, mostly just running across fields and parks. Soon.

Dying to hit the trails… preferably without snow! I’m over this winter thing.

I'm new to winter running. HOW do you do it in the snow? Shoes? Advice?

I have been wearing my Merrell Pace Gloves on the road and trails in the winter. They don’t offer much traction on hard packed snow, so I do tend to take it easy if that’s the case, but it hasn’t been much of a problem even when it’s slick. I don’t wear socks and I don’t have gaiters. My shoes usually get soaked, but I’ve never had a problem with my feet getting cold as long as I stay moving. (My ankles get cold if the snow is deep, but there are plenty of options for trail running gaiters as well!).

I know New Balance makes a minimal winter trail shoe (WT110) that I’ve read a couple reviews for (most seemed positive), but beyond that I’m afraid I’m not much help in the shoe department. Any suggestions, anyone?

This is the first winter I’ve continued to run trails after snowfall, and I’m really glad I have! Running in the snow is a great workout, and trails are gorgeous after a snowfall (maybe less so when they’re all kind of slushy and soggy, haha, but it’s still fun!).

I’m always a little reluctant to go out and run in the cold. For me just getting out the door is the hard part, but once I get going it’s always worth it! Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the question. :)

Yesterday’s run.

Run - so worth it. I ran with my iPod for the first time in quite a while and the music really got me moving. 75% road, 25% trail. Feelin’ good. Now time to get ready for work.

Motivational quotes will be sent your way to guilt you into running. “Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?’”
goooo runnnnnn
GO RUN!
I wasn’t going to run today because I was convinced my blood would freeze or something BUT I did and I am so, so happy now that I did! It was really good to get out.
You guys are the best.

Somebody make me run.

I keep thinking yeah! running! and then I sit here and consider how cold it is. And how much I don’t want to be cold. (I know, I know, you warm up… but I still get chilled).

Ride? Run? I need to do something here.

Started the morning with a short  run/slide (detoured through a park, only to find it was mainly a sheet of ice - oops) and it was quite nice once I got through the first mile and started feeling my feet again!
